Hotel Des Indes is in the heart The Hague. Our five star hotel located on the beautiful the Lange Voorhout and has been receiving guests for more than 140 years! We have been part of Leading Hotels of the World since 2019, a brand where natural hospitality is central, and we want to do everything we can to unburden our guests and give them a unique experience.
Position Summary:
The Finance Coordinator role is based in Hotel Des Indes, working with the hotel team and reporting directly to the General Manager.
The Finance Coordinator is the only finance person on property and this person will work closely with the Cluster Finance Team based in Amsterdam.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily finance tasks, will be highly involved in procedure improvements/changes and will be the key person with financial queries for the General Manager and Executive Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to grow their skills and knowledge in finance, setting excellent foundations for more senior roles within finance in hotels and the wider hospitality business.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Daily tasks such as:
- Count and reconcile the cash.
- Check the night pack: petty cash, Credit Card reconciliation, complimentary checks, rate variances, refunds etc. Flagging any variances to the Head of Departments and escalating to GM if not solved immediately.
- Booking the bank and reconciling the ledgers. Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all Cash Variances
- Daily revenue import into the financial system
Weekly tasks such as:
- Accounts receivable (AR)
- Age analysis – Check on the creditors balance, prepare overview and chase creditors for any open balance.
- Credit meeting, check together with sales and events any open amount and review PM status.
- Send groups’ invoices after being reviewed by the Sales and Events department.
Monthly tasks such as:
- Assisting in the month end closing process and monthly reporting
- Monthly cashier report
- Vouchers control, booking them into Opera and the financial system.
- Ledger checks to identify any variance before month end.
Other tasks such as:
- Assisting with Internal and External Audits – Mostly once per year
- Spot checks: Audit cashier banks periodically, inventory etc.
- Possibility of being involved in:
- P&L
- Budget
- Forecast
- Any other duty as instructed by GM or Finance cluster team.
Competences:
- Being able to work Independently.
- Proactive giving solutions on daily challenges
- Eye for detail
- Good in prioritizing
- Passion for hospitality
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written in Dutch and English
Job requirements:
- 1 – 2 years of experience within hotel finance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of AFAS and/ or Opera is an advantage.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Dutch and English speaking.
